LIFE Farm

LIFE Certified Organic Farm grows a wide variety of produce in Morgan County. We cultivate 14 acres of open farm fields, plus ½ an acre of green houses. In the fields we grow a wide variety of fruits and vegetables including many heirlooms, traditional varieties and specialty crops. Our greenhouses, primarily unheated, let us extend the season on warm weather crops and produces cool weather crops year-round. In the early spring supplemental heat is provided to start seedlings that ensure a strong spring planting in the outdoor fields. Surrounding the farm are 40 acres of woods, maintained for wildlife habitat and limited timber.
LIFE's 'Sustainable Plus' Mission
We believe in building a farm that works along the three pillars of sustainability: economics, environment and community. We must be economically viable in order to ensure that we can interact sustainably with our environment and community for the long run. "Plus" means that we do more than maintain good practices, we also work to heal what has been damaged - from the soil, to the diversity of wildlife around the farm, to the relationships between the farmer and community members.
Seed Saving

LIFE Farm works with our sister business, Nature's Crossroads to provide a full line of organic seeds. Together we have started a new seed saving program for Indiana. Over the next few years Nature's Crossroad will work with additional farms to produce so a full catalog of seeds, all grown and tested in Indiana. In the interim Natures Crossroads seeds are purchased from regional certified organic sources. www.naturescrossroads.com

LIFE Farm has saved seeds for its own production for many years. We've expanded our seed saving program to help meet the demand for local seeds in our region. This year we're providing Nature's Crossroads with 15+ heirloom tomatoes, kales, winter squashes, sweet peppers, beans, cucumbers, okra, pumkins, melons, corn, and flowers and chile peppers.
Community Outreach
We believe that each region can produce enough food for its needs. To
achieve this goal, LIFE constantly strives to increase production through more efficient and sustainable practices, assist in the development of cooperative systems and infrustructure, and
share this knowledge with children, home gardeners and other production farms. Visit LIFE's Outreach page for more details.
